1. What cookies and similar technologies are

Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. We use "cookies" here to also cover similar technologies — local storage, session storage and similar browser storage — which work in much the same way.

2. Our approach

We keep this simple:

  • We use no advertising or third-party analytics cookies. Our website and apps contain no ad networks, no tracking pixels and no third-party analytics.
  • We only use storage that is strictly necessary to make the site work — keeping you signed in. Nothing else.
  • Because we only use strictly necessary storage, we do not show a cookie consent banner — the law does not require consent for storage the site cannot work without. If we ever introduce anything non-essential, we will add a consent banner and ask for your prior consent before setting it.

Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR, regulation 6), consent is needed before setting any cookie that is not strictly necessary for a service you asked for. Strictly necessary cookies do not need consent. (The ICO's cookie guidance is being updated following the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025; we will review this policy against the updated guidance when it lands.)

3. Strictly necessary cookies and storage

These are required for the website to function. They are set without consent, as the law allows, because the site cannot work without them.

NameSet byPurposeLifetime
ttc_sessionThe Third Connection (first party)Keeps you signed in securely after passkey sign-in. Marked HttpOnly and Secure, so scripts and other sites cannot read itUp to 30 days; removed when you sign out

That is the only cookie we set. Two things we deliberately do not do:

  • No browser storage. We do not use localStorage or sessionStorage. The short-lived access token used to talk to our servers is held only in the page's memory and disappears when you close the tab.
  • No preference or convenience cookies. There are none to list.

4. Other cookies (consent required)

We do not currently use any cookies beyond the one listed in section 3. If that ever changes, we will update this policy, add a cookie consent banner, and ask for your consent before setting anything non-essential.

5. Third parties

We use Stripe to take payments. On our checkout pages, and on any Stripe-hosted payment pages, Stripe's payment software may set its own cookies or use similar technologies for security and fraud prevention. These are Stripe's cookies, governed by Stripe's own cookie policy, which is available on stripe.com.

We use no other third-party cookies. No social-media widgets, no embedded trackers.

6. Storage inside our apps

The Third Connection and TTC Host apps store some data locally on your device — for example, sign-in state and settings (in the platform's secure storage and app storage), and, in the staff app, an encrypted offline check-in cache. This is local, functional storage on your own device: it is not a cookie, it is not used for tracking, and it is not shared with third parties. It is removed when you sign out or uninstall the app, as applicable.

7. Controlling cookies in your browser

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site working (for example, you will not be able to stay signed in). Instructions for common browsers:

  • Chrome: google.com/chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies
  • Safari: support.apple.com — Preferences → Privacy
  • Firefox: support.mozilla.org — Settings → Privacy & Security
  • Edge: support.microsoft.com — Settings → Cookies and site permissions

For more about cookies generally, see ico.org.uk or allaboutcookies.org.

8. Changes and contact

If our use of cookies changes, we will update this policy and — for any new non-essential cookies — ask for your consent before setting them. Questions: privacy@thethirdconnection.com.
