This page explains how to delete your account and personal data for The Third Connection app, published by RELAYLANE LABS LTD (company number 17162321, Lavender Cottage Hazelden Farm, Marden Road, Cranbrook, England, TN17 2LP). It also covers the TTC Host staff app and our website.

1. How to delete your account

In the app (quickest): open About & legal → Delete account, read what will happen, and confirm. Deletion runs immediately.

On the website: sign in and go to Account → Delete account, then confirm.

By email — no app or account access needed:

  1. Email privacy@thethirdconnection.com from the email address on your account.
  2. Use the subject line "Delete my account".
  3. We will confirm we have received your request and verify it is really you (to stop anyone else deleting your account). If you no longer control the email address on your account, tell us and we will verify your identity another way.
  4. We then carry out the deletion and send you a confirmation when it is complete.

You do not need the app installed — or to reinstall it — to delete your account.

Before you delete: if you hold tickets to upcoming events, you will lose access to them — after deletion the app can no longer show your ticket QR. Contact tickets@thethirdconnection.com first if you have an event coming up.

2. What gets deleted — and what we keep

Deleted when you delete your account:

  • your profile — name, date of birth, gender, sexual orientation, city, interests;
  • your profile photos, in every size we store;
  • your matching data, including who you expressed interest in;
  • your chat messages — deleted for both sides: deleting your account also removes your conversations for the people you matched with;
  • your phone number and messaging preferences;
  • your passkeys, sign-in sessions and push notification tokens;
  • your event feedback comments — free-text feedback is deleted when your account is deleted;
  • your city-waitlist signup, if you have one.

Kept, because the law requires it or safety depends on it:

  • Purchase and payment records (tickets, orders, refunds) — kept for 6 years, as required by UK tax and company law. Your card details are held by Stripe, our payment provider, not by us.
  • Safety reports that involve your account — kept for up to 2 years after the case is closed, then deleted, so that serious reports cannot be erased by deleting an account.
  • Block records — kept indefinitely in a minimal, identifier-only form (user IDs only, with no name or profile attached), so that people you blocked (or who blocked you) stay blocked even after deletion — including if either of you rejoins.
  • A minimal record of a ban for a serious violation — a hashed version of the account email and the reason for the ban only — kept indefinitely to stop banned users from coming back. No profile content or orientation data is kept in these records.

Nothing we keep is used for anything except those stated purposes.

3. How long it takes

We complete deletion within one month of your verified request — this is the timescale UK data-protection law sets. If a request is unusually complex, the law allows up to two further months; if we ever need that, we will tell you within the first month and explain why.

4. Confirmation

When deletion is complete, we will send a confirmation to the email address on the request. After that, we can no longer restore your account — deletion is permanent.

5. What your matches and chat partners will see

  • Your profile disappears from the service, including from your matches' apps.
  • Your matches can no longer message you, and your conversations are deleted for them too — deleting your account removes the conversation for both sides, so the people you matched with do not keep a copy of your messages.
  • We do not tell other users that you deleted your account (as opposed to unmatching or blocking) — your reason for leaving is your business.

6. Backups

We keep encrypted backups of our systems for disaster recovery. Copies of your data may remain in backups for a limited period after deletion, and are purged or put beyond use on the backups' normal cycle. During that window, backup copies are put beyond use: they are never read or restored into the live service except in a genuine disaster recovery, and if a restore ever happens, your deletion is re-applied before the service returns.

7. Questions

If you have any questions about deletion, or want a copy of your data before you delete (you have that right too), contact privacy@thethirdconnection.com. Our full Privacy Policy explains all of your data rights.
